Makes sense to me. I see the equilibrium of the vacuum as implicit in GR, that the frame with the longest ruler and fastest clock would be closest to the equilibrium of the vacuum. The absolute zero of the void.
If all physical properties are removed from space, it has the non-physical qualities of infinity and equilibrium.
What fills space is energy and the forms emergent from it. Energy radiates to infinity, or at least until it subsides, creating definition and form. Meanwhile form coalesces toward equilibrium, or until everything balances out and all energy radiates back out.
Resulting in the cosmic convection cycles of galaxies.
Three dimensions are really just the xyz coordinate system and are no more foundational to space, than longitude, latitude and altitude are foundational to the biosphere of this planet.
As for time, it’s not so much the point of the present, moving past to future, that we experience as mobile, sentient organisms, but change turning future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, in order to inform and drive it, aka, causality and conservation of energy.
Time is asymmetric because it is a measure of action and action is inertial. The earth only turns one direction.
Different clocks can run at different rates simply because they are separate actions. Though things work more effectively if everything is working together. Such as metabolism.
So time is an effect, like temperature, pressure, color, noise, etc. Frequencies and amplitudes.
Ideal gas laws correlate volume with temperature and pressure, but we don’t refer to them as the 5th and 6th dimensions of space, because they are only foundational to our emotions, bodily functions and environment, not the sequence of thought.
Epicycles were brilliant math, but lousy physics. The map is not the territory.
