This paper makes the point that multispectrum light "packets" do redshift over distance, as the higher frequencies dissipate faster. Which suggests we might be sampling a wave front, not individual photons, traveling billions of lightyears.
Which then ties into the other link I posted, about the "loading theory of light."
I realize your good Catholic heart very much respects the bounds of convention, while your Stoic mindset accepts there is still far greater mystery, but you did raise the issue of all the dancing angels, unicorns and dragons currently taking residence within the hallowed halls of academe, so I couldn't resist one more futile effort. ;-)
