Maybe framing this as a male/female issue overlooks the actual factors.

We all exist as nodes in the network and reasonably those best able to understand and manage the network will be most effective at making it work for the goals they have in mind.

It is just that we have this individualistic, object oriented focus, so we mostly see the individuals, such as in terms of their sex, rather than the dynamics and processes in which they exist.
