Maybe this will force civilization to look beyond culture to character.

There are angels and assholes in every creed, color and culture and when the assholes are in charge and leading the way, things are going in the wrong direction.

It is the function of culture to unite the community into a larger social super organism, using the same languages, rules, measures, beliefs, etc.

Consequently to culture, good and bad tend to be viewed as some cosmic conflict between the forces of righteousness and evil, when in reality they are the basic biological binary of beneficial and detrimental. The 1/0 of sentience.

Too much good can be bad, when the positive feedback turns negative and some bad is necessary and educational. Without the ups and downs, it would be a flatline.

So when bad people seize those primal levers of influence, enormous damage can be done.

It is easy to understand how Zionism grew out of the persecutions of Europe, but simply reacting in a similar manner in the Middle East will not do Judaism any good in the long term.

It does seem the tight bonds of Judaism are turning Israel into an echo chamber, that does not see beyond its own, ever tightening circle and is burning bridges that will be necessary in the future.

The West is headed for some rough waters, with serious monetary, financial and economic troubles brewing and propping up Israel out of some religious mythologies is going to crash into that looming reality.

In which case, it seems Israel's only strategy is the Samson option. Which makes it history's largest suicide cult.
