Mohammad would be the grain of sand. Consider how many other equally talented/inspired/motivated leaders there are, but only a few are the ones to set off the big avalanches.

Consider how important it is to a movement to have something to be opposed to, rather than simply be inspired by. So how much of the focus of Islam is a reaction to the West?

The point you seem to be making is that Islam is the most monotheistically doctrinaire of the three. Judaism is more tribal, than absolutist, while Christianity is somewhat mediated by its pantheistic roots, reflected in the Trinity. Islam, on the other hand, cut off those roots and went totally for a monotheistic system.
