Monica,
When confronted with a problem, the way to understand it isn’t to examine every detail, but step far enough back, that it starts to come into some larger context. What you describe is a system transitioning from stability to stagnation and decline. When the leadership turns from innovation, to management, to corruption, the fish is rotting from the head down. The US is about where the Soviet Union was, in the late 80’s. It might not seem that way to those who still believe, but it is becoming increasingly evident to most that the upper crust is quickly becoming more scab, than admired and this crisis is opening up that gap with the underlaying flesh quite quickly. Given the election appears to be breaking down, as the choices look like something out of a zombie movie and the overall apparatus is in a nosedive, it really could become obvious by the end of this year.
The issue then is that growth is bottom up, so people will start looking to local networks, to survive and the next generation of innovators will those driven to formulate them. Whether good or bad, people are more inspired by motivation, then good ideas.
We will see what goes viral. My experience is that cute puppies get shared far more widely, than good ideas, but that is the nature of the beast.
Cycles of life, in all its gory detail. Love it….., or skate along the edges.
