My paradox is that when cosmic redshift was first discovered, it was assumed to be conventional doppler effect and the galaxies were flying apart in space. Then it was realized that, except for local movements, this redshift increases proportional to distance in all directions, making us appear to be at the center of the universe. So the theory was changed, to say that space itself expands, based on the concept of spacetime.

Yet if relativistic space expands, wouldn't the speed of light have to increase proportionally, in order to remain Constant?

It seems two metrics of space are being derived from the same light. One based on the speed and one based on the spectrum. It seems the speed is still being treated as the denominator, or it would be a "tired light" theory, if it was the numerator.

Having tried to understand what is being proposed, it seems as though light waves are being treated as some wavy line, that when stretched, become less wavy, thus higher frequencies become lower frequencies.

Yet that would seem to totally ignore the actual physics of how waves are generated, as a propagation of the energy, thus hard to avoid velocity as a factor.

One observation I did come across though, is that while single spectrum light will only redshift due to recession, multispectrum light "packets" redshift over distance, as the higher frequencies dissipate faster.

But that would mean we are sampling a wave front, not observing individual quanta of light that have traveled billions of lightyears.

Which would be more of a Pandora's Box for Quantum Theory, than a paradox.
