My sense is that it's physics. The construct of "space" curving inward, aka, gravity, is a centripetal effect, for which there doesn't seem to be any explanation, other than it's an effect of "mass," but there isn't enough mass for all the centripetal effects, so if we consider that waves and pretty much everything waves manifest, when they synchronize, are the reason for that centripetal effect. Then there isn't missing mass/dark matter creating the excess gravity, but the centripetal effect creating mass.
Consider that lasers are synchronized light waves and the quasars shooting out the poles of galaxies are a monstrous laser effect, so it is being created as the waves coalesce.
Meanwhile light, as energy, radiates out and the outward curvature of space, aka, space expanding, is based on the redshift of that light.
Though as I keep pointing out, they use the premise of Relativity and spacetime to argue that space itself, irrespective of the speed of light measuring it, can expand, but that totally ignores the point that if space expands relativitistically, then the speed of light would have to increase proportionally, in order to remain CONSTANT!
But that wouldn't explain redshift, which requires the light not to speed up, but take longer to cross.
Many years ago, I can across a paper pointing out that while single spectrum light will only redshift due to the doppler effect, of a receding source, multi spectrum light "packets" will redshift over distance, as the higher frequencies dissipate faster. Yet that would mean the quantification of light is a function of absorption and measurement, aka, "loading theory of light," not fundamental to the light itself. So we are sampling a wave front, not observing individual photons that traveled billions of lightyears.
Since the light radiating out is being constantly absorbed and re-radiated, aka, "black body radiation," it is effectively harmonizing across space.
So, synchronization is centripetal, while harmonization is centrifugal.
Both of which are entropic. The form collapsing to zero, while the energy radiates to infinity.
Yet energy lost from one area is replaced by energy radiating in from surrounding areas and the form collapsing sheds its energy back out, to energize other forms.
Then again, metaphors are a form of synchronization.
Not so much applicable to cultures, as society itself.
Just as we have the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy driving us, as well as a central nervous system to sort through and codify the forms, society tends to evolve forms of government as a form of central nervous system, while money and banking serve as an abstract circulation system, actually accounting, but since we have come to see money as a commodity, rather than the contract if functions as, we have the same dynamics of motor and steering manifesting society, as a form of emergent organism.
Though one suffering a form of economic Ebola virus, since government has transitioned to being a public utility, while banking remains private, giving banking the leverage over government, so the entire society is having all resources converted to monetary units and drained off. Everything from Boeing to baby formula is breaking down, as it's more important to maintain the stock price, than function as useful parts of the community.
Evolution is messy.
