My sense is the problem for Israel is that liberal, conservative polarity is far more divergent than most countries.
Western Judaism, having evolved as a significant aspect of the networking aspect of European nation states and consequentially very cosmopolitan, while the religion is based on a tribal belief system that didn't have an actual state to manage and consequentially not as grounded as necessary to be a governing mechanism.
To put it bluntly, it's schizophrenic. Which was becoming obvious, prior to Oct 7th, with the liberal side in a nationwide revolt against the attempted judicial coup by the conservative side.
That they have found common ground, by stomping on Gaza, increasing heavy handedness in the West Bank and threatening to attack Hezbollah doesn't look good.
There doesn't seem to be a long term plan, beyond the religious vision of some greater Israel.
The crazies have the upper hand. It's like barricaded in the house with the hostages and shooting at the neighbors.
