Feedback between competition and cooperation.
Nodes are synchronization, networks are harmonization. Those tribes have to fit into the larger network, or they become the focus/target of the rest of the tribes.
More rock, paper, scissors, than winner take all.
To culture, good and bad is some cosmic conflict between righteousness and evil, while in nature, it is the basic biological binary of beneficial and detrimental. The 1/0 of sentience. So culture is more the stories we tell the children to get them to behave, while nature is some enormous computer that doesn't always come up with the answers we think our gods should tell us.
The logical flaw in monotheism is that ideals are not absolutes. Truth, beauty, platonic forms are ideals. Rodin's The Thinker is an idealization. The core codes, creeds, heroes, narratives at the center of every society are ideals.
While the universal is the elemental. So a spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell. The light shining through and animating the film, than the stories playing out on it.
We are linear goal oriented organisms in a cyclical, circular, reciprocal, feedback generated reality.
We haven't really internalized the implications of the earth being round, not flat.
That tribalism is still monkeys beating their chests and throwing stones.
