Not a lot of gravitas on any side.

Part of the problem is that our country was first imagined as a debate over rights. Yet a healthy society is based on responsibilities, with rights as reward. It is just that back then, being irresponsible usually meant you starved, so it was taken for granted people were responsible to their own.

The Tragedy of the Commons is when rights are universal and responsibilities are optional.

Safe to say, we are going to have to go through much tougher times, before reality can no longer be ignored.
