On an organic level it is part of the cycle of regeneration, as the old becomes more rigid and cracked, while the underlying life forces push through the cracks and manifest their own forms.

Magic might seem a useful concept to express this otherness, but the basic fact of us as these little aware beings, jostling around the surface of this orb is bizarre enough as it is.

What people really need to do is examine the cracks and flaws in the paradigms directing our behavior. We worry about things like human induced climate change, but that is an effect of human activity. If we really want change, we need to explore the causes of human behavior, such as the belief systems.

For example we equate capitalism with markets, but markets need money as a medium of exchange, in order to function, while capitalism treats money as an end in itself. The signal to extract from the noise of the markets. Requiring ever more to be added and ever more ways to store what has been extracted.

One way is for government to siphon up surplus money, so the secret sauce of capitalism is that public debt backs private wealth.

Another is that monotheistic religion presumes a spiritual absolute to be an ideal of wisdom and knowledge, from which we fell, when logically it would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise. Basically it is a tool of social control.
