One of the earlier tricks I found to figure things out is not to judge anything presented, but to just let it express itself and the context in which it existed. where there would usually be some polar reflection/opposite element that balanced it and that would start to give some keys to unlocking it.
For example, the idea of nothingness is absolute zero. Which might well seem to be a logical starting point, say of vacuum fluctuation. Then why wouldn't it all cancel back out? Possibly because nothing is nothing, not even location. Which suggests infinite locations/vacuum, all fluctuating. So there is the infinite to balance the absolute.
The problem is that once you start down that path, any sense of conventional reality flakes away like dead skin and you are just caught up in the feedback loops and are happy when they are working in your favor and know eventually they will break you down, as they built you up.
Living in the thermodynamic present is more complicated than living the group narrative, but you know your own reality.
I think the more fundamental problem of consciousness isn't whether it exists, how it exists, why it exists, etc. Rather how it is expressed through life. The fact is that some element of sentience is bubbling up through life can be accepted as a given. What we have to take into consideration is that we are expressions of a billion year process and the layers of feedback, building up and breaking down have created an incredibly dense situation to come to terms with, in the context of our particular lives. Yet it's also like just light shining through the film and our reality is images flashing through. Both incredibly complex and simple, at the same time.
So there is no real "answer" because anytime anything seems like an answer, it eventually peels away.
I could go on, as my own life has had enough situations where the reality seems pretty thin, but you have your life, your connections and the lessons drawn from them.
I'm contemplating how to start a campaign of having Julian Assange as the write in candidate of choice. Got any ideas on how to push it?
Though I suppose you are Canadian.
