One thing I find in this world is that as the information increases, attention spans decrease, so trying to change mindsets has to focus on some very basic fracture points and build from there.
For example; Time, God and money;
As these mobile organisms, our experience is a sequence of perceptions, in order to navigate, but time is not so much the point of the present, moving past to future, as it is change, turning future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.
Time is an effect, like temperature, pressure, color and sound. Time is frequency, events are amplitude.
Energy, as present and process, goes past to future, while the patterns generated go future to past. Energy drives the wave, while the fluctuations rise and fall.
Consciousness also goes past to future, while the perceptions, emotions and thoughts giving it form go future to past. Though it is the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy, feeding the flame, while the central nervous system sorts the information.
So while we try to define our reality narratively, thermodynamics better explains it.
Galaxies are energy radiating out, as form coalesces in, in a cosmic convection cycle.
God; Logically a spiritual absolute would be the raw essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell. More the light shining through the film, than the images on it.
Assuming ideals as absolute effectively creates a form of polytheism, where all the various absolutist religions are in conflict. Remember that democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures, as they represented multiculturalism to the Ancients.
Rome adopted Christianity as the Empire solidified and remnants of the Republic were being erased. To the Ancients, monotheism represented monoculture. One people, one rule, one god.
Also good and bad are not some cosmic conflict between righteousnes and evil, but the basic biological binary of beneficial and deterimental. The 1/0 of sentience. When good is assumed to be aspirational, rather than elemental, all the higher order complexity, nuance and subjectivity is lost in the race to the bottom, of us versus them.
Money; Is the social contract enabling mass societies, not a commodity to mine from them. We are linear, goal oriented creatures in a cyclical, circular, feedback generated reality and while markets need money to circulate, people see it as signal to extract and store.
Though an medium is dynamic, while a store is static, so they don't mix well. Blood is a medium, while fat is a store, or roads are a medium, while parking lots are a store.
Its functionality is in its fungibility, so we own it like we own the section of road we are using, or the air and water flowing through our bodies.
Since the asset is backed by the debt, storing the asset requires generating debt. Which has become the entire function of our society.
The financial markets could not function, without the government borrowing up trillions in surplus investment money. The wars really are simply driven by the need to make it go away, so more can be borrowed. The Egyptians built pyramids with their excess effort. We build boondoggle armies.
I could go one, and on, but hopefully you get the idea. The current system is breaking down and we need to understand why, before trying to build another one.
