Or maybe the Ukrainians are bear bait and all the hysteria and sanctions are the intention in the first place.

For those of us old enough to remember, Russia had two very brutal wars to keep Chechnya, but they willingly turned Ukraine loose. For one thing, they understood it was too big and too chaotic to control.

So why go back in now, other than the West has been putting as much pressure as possible on Ukraine to irritate Russia. It's like the cool kids telling the little dumb kid to go poke the bear, if he wants to be a cool kid.

The reality will eventually become clear the West wants Ukraine as bloody as possible, to turn the Russians into pariahs.

The problem will be the blowback, as the Ukrainians realize they were just bear bait and those weapons start flowing back into the black markets. Wait until the gangs outside London and Paris have rocket propelled grenades and heavy machine guns.

Blowback is a bitch.
