Maybe that’s why Western philosophy needs a more binary, yin/yang view, where it can accept both a top down and bottom up approach as two sides of the larger whole.

Thesis, antithesis and synthesis didn’t quite go all the way. There is no synthesis, just cycles/fluctuations between one side and the other.

Like the energy of youth, versus the structure of age.

The anarchy of desire, versus the tyranny of judgement.
