People just don’t bother to think it through.

For one thing, we are schooled to the notion that capitalism is synonymous with a market economy, but they are at odds.

Markets need money as a medium, to circulate value. For capitalism, money is the signal to extract from the noise of the economy and society.

The result is an enormous, metastatic financial sector, trying to store nearly infinite amounts of money, with the rest of the economy little more than a machine to create this illusion of wealth.
