Processes generate patterns, therefore patterns are emergent.

Energy, as process, goes past to future, while the patterns go future to past. Energy drives the wave, the fluctuations rise and fall.

Products go start to finish, future to past, while the production line goes the other way, consuming material and expelling product, past to future. As lives go birth to death, while life moves onto the next generation, shedding the old.

Our lives are processes, while our minds function by extracting patterns. Consciousness goes past to future, while thoughts go future to past.

Math is pattern recognition. When they are correlation, it's metaphor. When they are causal, it's physics. When these get mixed up, it's numerology.

Processes tend to either synchronize the patterns, or harmonize them.

Synchronization is centripetal, while harmonization is centrifugal. Nodes and networks, organisms and ecosystems, particles and fields.

Lots of energy in one big wave, synchronization, is ordered, as it is a lot of energy defined by little information.

Energy distributed across lots of waves is chaotic, because it takes lots of information to describe, but fairly harmonious, due to its distribution.
