Rebecca,
We are wireless devices.
On the left and right brain, think in terms of a wave; The left brain seeks clarity, so it "sees" waves cresting, where their energy is most expressed and frequency and amplitude are evident. Light and sound. Yet that is when the wave is starting to recede. So this sense of the present as a point, quickly receding.
The right brain is more a thermostat/barometer, sensing the waves building and receding, so they are not as clear, but more deeply felt and pervasive.
I'm surprised there isn't much spiritual attention being paid to "floaters." Those spots and waves in the vision, that are other bubbles of consciousness intersecting one's own. Not only have I seen, sensed them since I was a child, I get the impression some of the abstractions in cave painting resemble some of the forms they manifest. If you take a floater, glowing slightly red, with a tendril running through it, pulling it towards you, the effect is a classic heart shape. Cupid's arrow running through it.
