Remember that what actually gets measured as time are particular, regular actions and action is inertial. The earth only turns one direction.
Physics has become blinded by math. Epicycles, as a model of our perception of the cosmos, were brilliant, predictively accurate geometry. The only problem was that in the larger context, of those celestial bodies, we are not at the center.
Modeling time as linear direction/dimension, has a similar bias. We are mobile organisms, so our experience of a sequence of perceptions logically evolved out of the need to navigate the space we inhabit, but assuming the point of the present, moving past to future is foundational, makes as much sense as thinking it is actually the sun moving across the sky, east to west, rather than the earth spinning on its axis, west to east.
Einstein said that at the speed of light, there is no time, which is true, not just because any measure of change at C is impossible, but this motion is what creates time.
It is just a light show. As Emerson said, we are but thickened light.
Entropy originated out of the thermodynamics of steam engines and energy is lost as heat, because energy will expand to infinity. Yet it is replaced by energy radiating in from surrounding areas.
Though the bigs guys are going to defend the math as their god, until their dying breath. The situation is like epicycles. They keep adding patches, from Inflation to Dark Energy, to deal with the gaps between prediction and observation.
What if your accountant just wrote in a figure and called it dark money, anytime there was a gap in the books? In most of the sciences, this would be a reason to consider the theory potentially falsified.
