Does it occur to you that America has been sold down the river, by the banks and the MIC for generations, all with the connivance of the politicians? When was the last time you heard of a politician referred to as a Statesman?

A fair number of people who voted for good old Mr Hope and Change himself, turned around and voted for Trump in 16. Enough to beat Hillary.

What did they both have in common? They were the outsiders. The first one proved to be a fraud and the second was just some monkey wrench to throw in the gears.

Maybe this doesn't fit your particular narrative, but once they finish crashing and burning the dollar and states start issuing their own currencies, with the US going the way of the Soviet Union, maybe people will realize the center of the tree is rotted out and that's why it fell over, not some clown dancing around the pyre.
