Society, like everything else, goes through cycles of expansion and consolidation. The expansion side is conceptually liberal, while the consolidation side is effectively conservative. The problem is our culture has congealed around some 50 year old liberal shibboleths, so that what was originally liberal has become the current orthodoxy.

Yes, it's a bit schizophrenic, but it explains why our bureaucracy, including the spooks, is "woke."

If it bothers you, think of it as a scab, that is not quite ready to be peeled away, but eventually will.

The deeper delusion is that, "debt doesn't matter."

When that particular house catches fire, there will be no freebies left to hand out.

The basis of a healthy society is responsibility, with rights as reward. Otherwise it is the, "Tragedy of the Commons," where everyone has rights and responsibilities are optional

The original premise of our society, of which the "woke" are just infantilized detris, is everyone should have rights, because it used to be the irresponsible starved, so it was taken for granted that people be responsible to their own.

The academics have been drinking their own bathwater for far too long.
