Staring into the Abyss

Debating what is baggage

If various politicians and pundits have their way, we are sliding into World War 3.

Does that open your mind to questioning the culture leading us up to this point, or will you cling ever more tightly to the beliefs around which our world is based?

We are these linear, narrative, goal oriented creatures in a cyclical, circular, reciprocal, feedback generated reality and after many thousands of years of going forth and multiplying, we are bumping up against the edge of the global petri dish. It might be time to take stock, because it’s a long ways down.

To culture and the vast majority of people, good and bad are some cosmic conflict between righteousness and evil, while in nature it’s the basic biological binary of beneficial and detrimental. The 1/0 of sentience. What is good for the fox, is bad for the chicken.

This is because society has to function as a larger organism, especially in times of stress, so everyone has to be part of the group, or the social immune response will kick in and react more forcefully against those not following the script, than often against the perceived danger. Under the culture, the politics and the personalities, it’s really biology and physics driving society.
