The act of determination can only occur as the present. Given information travels at the speed of light, there is no frame in which the future can be fully predicted.

There is no dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.

Energy is "conserved," because it manifests this presence, creating time, temperature, pressure, color sound. Frequencies and amplitudes, rates and degrees.

As this presence, energy goes past to future, because the patterns generated coalesce and dissolve, future to past. Energy drive the wave, the fluctuations rise and fall.

Consciousness also goes past to future, while the perceptions, emotions and thoughts giving it form and structure go future to past. Though it is the digestive system processing the energy, the nervous system sorting the information and the digestive system as feedback loop.

As energy, consciousness is causal, while the thoughts are effect. The function of the mind isn't to control our immediate motor functions, because they would only slow them down. Flies are quicker. It is to process the information, so our future reactions are better informed.

The gut decides, the head advises.
