The fact that medium offers the only easily accessible opportunity for long form writing on the internet says more about the intellectual depth of our society, than it does about medium itself.

Not only is current culture drought stricken, but it's now suffering the forest fire of cancel culture, as everyone is either afraid to step outside the lines, or obligated to join one side or the other.

The best the philosophers seem to offer is the xanax of stoicism, the economists and most activists can't see beyond the dichotomy of capitalism versus socialism, while our political choices are between a deranged clown and a demented puppet.

The fact is that I do remain an optimist, but that we will have to wait until the fat lady actually sings, before any serious questions can be asked.
