The infinite would just tear everything apart. We do that enough anyway, searching for the absolute.

Why not a yin and yang, of both?

In terms of looking in the mirror of embedded presumptions, consider time.

As these mobile organisms, this sequential process of perception is a logical function of navigation, so we experience time as the point of the present, moving past to future, which physics codifies as measures of duration.

The evident reality is that change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns. Duration is the present, as the events rise and fall.

There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.

Energy is conserved, because it manifests the present, so it is neither lost to the past, nor gained from the future. It creates time, as well as temperature, pressure, color and sound. Time is frequency, events are amplitude.

So energy, as process and present, goes past to future, while the forms generated go future to past.

In terms of a wave, the energy drives it, while the fluctuations rise and fall.

Essentially the energy and the information go opposite directions of time.

Now consciousness also goes past to future, while the perceptions, emotions and thoughts giving it definition rise and fall, future to past. Though it is the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy, "feeding the flame," while the central nervous system sorts the information.

Thus this sense of consciousness always exploring and trying to transcend the structures and definitions giving it form, though only to grasp on to some further form, from the most ethereal, to the most exact and abstract.

Now consider that the three dimensional description of space is basically the xyz coordinate system. It's a mapping device, like longitude, latitude and altitude.

If we remove all physical properties from space, it has the non-physical qualities of infinity and equilibrium. which is implicit in Special Relativity, as the frame with the longest ruler and fastest clock is closest to the equilibrium of the vacuum. The unmoving void of absolute zero.

So space is both absolute and infinite. Zero to infinity.

What fills space is this energy and the forms it manifests. The energy expands out, toward infinity, while the forms settle back to equilibrium.

Looking at galaxies, the most prominant structures in the universe, they are energy radiating out, as form/mass coalesces in. One toward black body radiation, while the other toward black holes.

Harmonization versus synchronization.

So the reality is that constant tension between energy and form. The anarchies of desire driving us, versus the tyrannies of judgement defining us.
