The logical flaw in monotheism, the Catholic All-knowing Absolute, is that ideals are not absolutes. It is a category error.

Truth, beauty, platonic forms are ideals. The core codes, creeds, heroes, narratives at the gravitational center of every culture are ideals. Without which they break apart. Tower of Babel.

The universal, on the other hand, is the elemental. So a spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, aka, knowledge, from which we fell. The light shining through the film, than the stories playing out on it.

Morality is not absolute, as it couldn't be transgressed, if it were. Like a temperature below absolute zero.

Morals are the ideals, the codes, creeds, behaviors, beliefs, habits, rules, relationships, etc. that enable a healthy society.

Traditionally that one's status is a function of what one adds, not what one can extract. Which is why modern culture is increasingly necrotic.

To the Ancients, gods were metaphors, ideals, memes, the building blocks of thought and conversation. Part of the evolution of human cognition.

In this context, monotheism amounted to monoculture. One people, one rule one god. The group, the tribe as a whole bigger than the sum of its parts. Ancient Israel was also a monarchy. The Big Guy Rules. Like the religion.

Democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures. The many ideas, ideals, factions, forces, elements interacting, competing and cooperating.

The origins of the Tiny go to fertility rites. The young god born in the spring to the old sky god and earth mother. Though by the age of the Olympians, Zeus didn't give way to Dionysus. Tradition prevailed over renewal. The old didn't make way for the young.

Which was why the story of Jesus had such fertile ground to take root across the region.

Though when Constantine adopted it as the state religion of Rome, it was for the monotheism, as he was bringing the sides of the Empire together. Having a religion where the Big Guy Rules is useful.

While the origins of the Trinity were shrouded by the Holy Ghost. Renewal wasn't as useful in this context.

As such, the Catholic Church was the eschatological basis for European monarchy. Divine right of kings, as opposed to consent of the governed.

When the West went back to popular forms of government, it required separation of church and state, culture and civics.

Which is deeply schizophrenic, as it separates government from its moral foundations.
