The names ring some bells, though my education's been mostly self taught. The horse world is rather insular and time consuming and my few efforts to get beyond it professionally have convinced me people out in the larger world are crazier than horse people, but build harder shells, so it's not as apparent.
It does seem the scientific community has its own insularity problems, even if the foundational premise is objectivity, testing and falsifiability. Apparently standards tend to fall victim to the sociology. Like in so many other situations.
My hopes are on the James Webb, poking a hole in what has to be their biggest cultural edifice, the Big Bang Theory. The follow on effects would spread widely.
Time will tell.
