The problem is that as mobile organisms, this sentient interface our body has with its situation functions as a sequence of perceptions, in order to navigate, so our sense of time is as the present going past to future, when the evident reality is that activity and the resulting change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.

Sort of like seeing the sun and stars moving east to west, because the earth turns west to east.

There is no dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect. Energy is conserved, because it manifests this presence, creating time, temperature, pressure, color and sound, as frequencies and amplitudes, rates and degrees.

Ideal gas laws correlate volume with temperature and pressure, but we don't confuse them with space even though they are as foundational to our emotions and bodily functions as sequence is to thought.

Given that human culture and civilization is this narrative, historical process of passing knowledge from one generation to the next, this linear flow of time is foundational to humanity, but it does conceal the fundamental processes generating this effect.

The cycles, reactions, feedback, waves cresting, tides turning, etc, that is the nature of reality, that is lost to our compressed, edited store of knowledge.

It's like we haven't really internalized the implications of the world being round, not flat.
