The problem is that monotheism is logically flawed.
Ideals are not absolutes.
Truth, beauty, platonic forms are ideals. The codes, creeds, heroes, narratives at the core of every society are ideals.
The universal, on the other hand, is the elemental, so a spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell. The light shining through the film, than the narratives playing out on it.
To the Ancients, monotheism equated with monoculture. One people, one rule, one god. Ancient Israel was a monarchy.
Democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures. Many ideas and ideals, competing.
Rome adopted Christianity for the monotheism, as Constantine was bringing the halves of the Empire back together. The Big Guy Rules. While the origins of the Trinity, the young god born in the spring, to the old sky god and earth mother, were shrouded by the Holy Ghost, as the Catholic Church didn't do renewal, or women.
Which provided the eschatological basis for the next 1500 years of European monarchy. Divine right of kings. As opposed to Consent of the governed.
When the West went back to democracy and republicanism, it required separation of church and state, culture and civics.
This is just more spiraling into the abyss.
