The problem is that there are many, many layers of cause and effect leading to the situation the world is in and one in which society serves finance, rather than the other way around. As the value circulation mechanism, finance functions as the heart and arteries of the community, but it has become a wealth extraction mechanism instead, so the rest of society finds itself grinding itself away, as the fluids meant to power and lubricate it are drained off. Here is an essay where I try going into it somewhat;

Hopefully this doesn’t seem as if I’m just pushing my own writing, but you are raising some elemental social problems and this is my thinking on the subject of social problems and the cultural beliefs underlaying them.
