The problem is those most incorporated into society are those most connected with all its elements and manifestations. Thus that it is emotionally and intellectually difficult, if not impossible, to peel away too many layers, before personal issues of identity and perceptions of reality come into play.

I, on the other hand, grew up around more horses and cattle than people, very deeply imbedded in the local culture of the outer suburbs of Baltimore, between the farms and the estates, so I do have both the connections on an organic level, while also having a somewhat dispassionate perspective.
