The problem isn’t Capitalism versus socialism, but Capitalism versus markets.
Markets require money, as a medium of exchange, to circulate. Capitalism views money as the signal to extract from the noise of society and the economy, to save and store.
Even though Econ 101 says money is both medium of exchange and store of value, they are different functions.
Blood is a medium, fat is a store. Roads are a medium, parking lots are a store.
Consequently we have an enormous, metastatic financial system, consuming the economy, society and the environment.
