The problem of time is that as mobile organisms, we experience reality as a sequence of perceptions, as a function of navigating this environment. Then as humans we communicate our experiences narratively, so the flow of time, as the point of the present moving past to future, is foundational to our reality.

The fact is that change turns future to past. Potential, actual, residual. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.

There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Aka, causality and conservation of energy.

Time is an effect, like temperature, pressure, color, sound, etc. Think frequencies and amplitudes. Ideal gas laws correlate volume with temperature and pressure, but we don’t call them the 5th and 6th dimensions of space, because they are only foundational to our emotions, bodily functions and environment, not the sequence of perception.

Different clocks can run at different rates simply because they are separate actions. That much of human history has been about getting everyone following the same narrative, playing by the same rules, for the same goals, using the same measures, it might seem there should be a universal time, but there is rabbit time and turtle time. When everyone is playing the same game for the same goals, it becomes a race and everyone is on rabbit time, but the turtle is still plodding along, long after the rabbit has died.

The Big Bang Theory cannot be falsified, because whenever there is a gap between prediction and observation, instead of drawing the theory into question, some enormous new force of nature is assumed and all is well.

What if accountants could just write in a number and call it “dark money,” whenever they came across a gap in the books?

Before Inflation and Dark Energy(Dark Matter is a tangential issue), the original patch was when they realized redshift increases proportional to distance in all directions, creating the effect that we appear to be at the center of this expansion. So it was changed from an expansion in space, to an expansion of space, because Spacetime!

Which totally ignores the central premise of General Relativity, that the speed of light is measured as a Constant in all frames. If the light is being redshifted, obviously intergalactic light is not Constant to intergalactic space. Presumably more lightyears, not expanded lightyears.

So two metrics are being derived from the same light. One based on its speed and the other based on its spectrum. About the only semi-coherent rebuttal I got to this point is that lightspeed is measured locally, while the expansion is universal. To which I point out it still has to expand locally, in order to expand universally. Using the inchworm on a balloon analogy, the balloon has to expand under the worm, as well. So two metrics being related to one another. Which is the real “ruler?” Given the expansion is relative to the speed, it would seem the speed is still assumed to be the real denomnator.

We do happen to be at the center of our point of view, so an optical explanation might be worth looking into and multispectrum light “packets” do redshift over distance, as the higher frequencies dissipate faster, but that would mean we are sampling a wave front, not individual photons traveling billions of lightyears, which might imply photons are not irreducible, which would open a large can of worms for modern physics. The quantum would have to give way for the wave.
