The problem runs a lot deeper than our current political contests.

Consider that democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures. The family as godhead. The Romans co-opted a monotheistic sect as the Empire solidified out of the ashes of the Republic. The Big Guy rules.

Logically a spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell. More the light shining through the film, than what the images on it purport to be doing.

Ideals are not absolutes and an entire culture founded on the principle will be more than just contentious, as everyone assumes their fondest hopes and desires are universal. Subjectivity is dismissed as relativism.

Good and bad are not some cosmic conflict between righteousness and evil, which our culture assumes, but the basic biological binary of beneficial and detrimental. The 1/0 of sentience.

Any society will have conservative and liberal sides. Tradition and renewal are like the cycles of the seasons.

Galaxies are energy radiating out, as structure coalesces in. As these organisms, we have the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy driving us on, as the central nervous system sorts through the forms and information. Motor and steering.

The anarchies of desire, versus the tyrannies of judgement.
