The problem with concentrating on the specifics of any war, is that it is simply the point of focus, of a much larger dynamic, currenty global. So trying to look at it in isolation, either intentionally, to distract attention from those larger forces, or out of ignorance, one is left largely in the dark.

It does seem there is a concentrated effort to focus public attention in this war, that for anyone following the news of the last 50 years, or even just the last 20, seems almost comical in its narrow focus and shortsightedness. Though it would be more comical if so many people weren't being killed or made homeless.

The problem for the promoters of this viewpoint won't be that Russia suddenly starts marching west, but that the West has such serious fractures and pressures building within and among its various members, that when what is currently happening in England starts spreading to the rest, will leave them scratching their heads.

Germany has become pretty docile over the last 70 years, but taking away the manufacturing occupying their energies and emotions will be an interesting study in political psychology.

Not to mention that if the Republicans sweep the House and Senate in two weeks, the partisan hysteria will be cranked up by orders of magnitude, to the point the current Ukraine narrative will suddenly be difficult to reconcile with Russiagate being played in reverse, from Hunter to Hillary.

Then all those other European states start drawing inward and looking for friends in other parts of the world.

If you want to play chess with the big boys, you have to study the whole board.
