The problem with going meta is there is always another layer, from which subsequent layers emerge.
I would argue one of the more fundamental meta issues, is that we do have an ideals based culture, in a cyclical, reciprocal reality. We want that end state, but all we get is blowback. There are generally two sides to everything, from good and bad, to conservatives and liberals. Without the ups and downs, it would just be a flatline.
When we seek the ideal, the primary result is polarization, as the alternatives gravitate to their most simplistic arguments and all nuance is lost.
Obviously this is too meta for the current level of argument, but we are getting to the edge of the petri dish and a less linear, goal oriented and more cyclical and reciprocal paradigm will become inevitable. Or else.
