The problem with time is that we are mobile organisms, necessitating a sequential process of perception and have evolved a narrative based civilization, so we experience time as the point of the present, moving past to future, somewhat like we experience the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.

The reality is that change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns. Duration is the present, as the events coalesce and dissolve.

There is no "dimension" of time, because the past is consumed by the present. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.

Energy is "conserved," because it is the present. It creates time. As well as temperature, pressure, color, sound. Frequencies and amplitudes. Time is frequency, events are ampitude.

So the energy, as process, goes past to future, while the patterns generated go future to past.

In a factory, the product goes start to finish, future to past, while the production line goes the other way, consuming material and expelling product. As lives go birth to death, while life goes onto the next generation, shedding the old.

Consciousness goes past to future, while the perceptions, emotions and thoughts go future to past. Yet it is the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy driving us on, while the central nervous system sorts through the forms precipitating out.

Which explains why the thought process focuses on the patterns, rather then the processes. Like a movie camera takes a sequence of stills, not just the shutter having been left open.

Consider that the energy is what drives waves, while the forms are the fluctuations rising and falling. So when we think of waves, we think of fluctuations, frequencies and amplitudes, not necessarily the process of energy building up and draining away, that creates them.

Similarly, with consciousness, we think of the forms it expresses and assume it is some emergent property of these forms being expressed.

Yet the sequence isn't causal. Yesterday doesn't cause today. The sun shining on this spinning planet creates this cycle of days and nights.

Galaxies are energy radiating out, while form coalesces in. The relationship amounts to a cosmic convection cycle.

The three dimensional description of space is really just the xyz coordinate system, which is a mapping device, like longitude, latitude and altitude.

If you remove all physical properties from space, it has the non-physical qualities of infinity and equilibrium.

Infinity because there is nothing to bound it and equilibrium is implicit in Relativity, as the frame with the longest ruler and fastest clock would be closest to the equilibrium of the vacuum. The unmoving void of absolute zero.

So space is the absolute and the infinite.

What fills space is this energy and the forms it manifests. The energy radiates toward infinity, while form coalesces toward equilibrium. Both entropic.

So then consider how those cycles of forms building up and breaking down, like waves, are governed by the energy seeking ways to expand, as the forms seek ways to equalize. Creating this effect called time, as the energy moves to the future, while the forms slide into the past.

Safe to say, I get banned from physics discussions trying to make this argument, but you do say the problem with time is physicists.
