The real problems go to the foundations of civilization and we are reaching the point we can no longer outrun them. Simply speeding things up only increases the negative feedback.

Efficiency is to do more with less, so peak efficiency will be when we can do everything with nothing.

Basically trade credits and debts. Aka, derivatives.

When profit trumps quality, the wheels start falling off the planes.

We are linear, goal oriented creatures in a cyclical, circular, reciprocal, feedback generated reality. We haven't really come to terms with the implications of the earth being round, not flat. The age of "go forth and multiply" has reached the edge of the petri dish.

If the axioms are flawed, all the "shut up and calculate" is just garbage in, garbage out.
