There are angels and assholes in all creeds, cultures, colors and classes. When the assholes are in charge and leading the way, things are going the wrong direction.

Bacteria and modern economics operate on the same infinite growth formula. The problem is when they reach the edge of the petri dish, or the resources.

The advantage of multicellular organisms is being able to sense and navigate that larger ecosystem.

As people form into social super organisms, they develop governments as a form of nervous system, the executive and regulatory functions.

While mediums and conduits of exchange, ie, money and banking, evolve as similar functions to blood and the circulation system.

As cells in these bodies, people tend to resent the direct powers of government, but fawn over the possibilities of money.

So we have come to understand government has to function as a public utility, as its purpose is the health of the whole body, yet have not yet understood the same principle applies to banking. Leaving banking to have its, "Let them eat cake." moment.

As linear, goal oriented organisms in this cyclical, circular, reciprocal, feedback generated reality, people see money as signal to save and store, while markets need it to circulate. Consequently Econ 101 describes it as both medium of exchange and store of value.

In your body, blood is the medium, fat is the store. Mix them up and see how long you live. Roads are a medium, parking lots are a store. If we treated roads like we treat money, everything would be paved over, but we would still be fighting over the lots.

The simple fact is that large masses of people working collectively, cannot effectively turn around and save individually.

Money is a contract, enabling economic functionality, not a commodity to simply mine from the economy. To store the asset side of the ledger, there has to be a debt backing it. Given the one job the flunkies allowed in DC seem to be good at, is running up the public debt, it would seem the secret sauce of capitalism is public debt backing private wealth.

That they then turn around and use much of this to go play cowboys and Indians on the other side of the planet, is simply a consequence of giving people too much power, but no real responsibility. Deliquent children with matches and gasoline.
