There is a far more fundamental problem driving this dynamic and that is the logically fallacy in the concept of monotheism, of a singular spiritual entity driving reality and human history.
Logically a spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell. More the light shining through the film, than the narratives played out on it.
The consequence of Western Culture using a Middle Eastern tribal deity as its focal point really hasn't been a huge favor to the tribe in question, nor has it helped develop social evolution, to the extent our technology has evolved.
Remember democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures. Rome adopted a primarily monotheistic sect as state religion around the time the Empire was rising from the ashes of the Republic, essentially serving to validate The Big Guy Rules. Divine right of kings.
When the West went back to democracy and republicanism, it required separation of church and state, effectively culture and civics.
So now we have a world were every sect has to proclaim its universality, in order to qualify. So no live and let live.
