Time!

As mobile organisms, this sentient interface our body has with its situation functions as a sequence of perceptions, in order to navigate, so our sense of time is the present going past to future.

The reality is that activity and the resulting change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday because the earth turns.

There is no dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.

It is like a tapestry being woven of strands constantly being pulled from what was woven.

Yet that linear flow is foundational to human culture and civilization, as narrative and history.

Though the reality is more thermodynamic feedback loops, building up and breaking down.

Energy is "conserved," because it manifests this presence, creating time, temperature, pressure, color, sound, as frequencies and amplitudes, rates and degrees.

So this presence goes past to future, because the patterns generated come and go, future to past. Potential, actual, residual.

Energy drives the wave, the fluctuations rise and fall. No tiny strings necessary.

Consciousness also goes past to future, while the perceptions, emotions and thoughts giving it form and structure go future to past.

The digestive system processes the energy, feeding the flame, the nervous system sorts the information, signals from the noise, with the circulation system in the middle.

So there tends to be this intellectual obsession with the information, which then is distilled down to definable units, from atoms to individuals.

Which are actually constructs, nodes within larger networks and ecosystems.

The essence of the node is synchronization, as everything coalesces onto the same wavelength.

While the essence of the network is harmonization, as all the various waves build up and break down across infinity.

Galaxies are the energy radiating out, toward infinity, as the structure coalesces in, toward equilibrium.

Anything actually falling into the vortex in the middle, rather than breaking down and radiating out prior, is shot out the poles as quasars. Which are like giant lasers and lasers are synchronized light waves.
