Time, God, money;
Time is not so much the present going past to future, that we experience as mobile organisms, with a sequential process of perception, as activity and change turning future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
No dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.
Energy is conserved, because it manifests this presence, creating time, temperature, pressure, color, sound. Frequencies and amplitudes, rates and degrees.
So energy goes past to future, because the patterns generated go future to past. Energy drives the wave, the fluctuations rise and fall.
Consciousness also goes past to future, while the perceptions, emotions and thoughts giving it form and structure go future to past. Though it is the digestive system processing the energy, feeding the flame, while the nervous system sorts the patterns and the circulation system is feedback in the middle.
Galaxies are energy radiating out, as structure coalesces in.
God; Ideals are not absolutes.
Truth, beauty, platonic forms are ideals. The core codes, heroes, narratives at the center of every society are ideals.
The universal, on the other hand, is the elemental, so a spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell.
More the light shining through the film, going past to future, than the stories playing out on it, going future to past.
To the Ancients, gods were what ideals, metaphors, memes are today. Like Rodin's The Thinker, as a metaphor for cognition.
Monotheism equated with monoculture. One people, one rule, one god. Ancient Israel was a monarchy. Democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures.
Rome adopted Christianity for the monotheism as the Empire finally came back together, under Costatine. The Big Guy Rules.
Divine right of Kings. As opposed to Consent of the governed.
When the West went back to democracy and republicanism, it required separation of church and state, culture and civics.
Money; We are linear, goal oriented creatures in a cyclical, circular, reciprocal, feedback generated reality, so while markets need money to circulate, people see it as signal to save and store.
Consequently Econ 101 describes it as both medium of exchange and store of value.
Yet in the body, blood is the medium, fat is the store, roads are a medium, parking lots are a store. The hallway is a medium, the hall closet is a store. The average five year old understands the difference.
The medium has become the message. The tool became the god.
So we have a society where all value is reduced to these units of exchange, like some societal Ebola virus and while we might think it is a commodity to mine from the economy, like gold from the ground, or bitcoin from computer processing, the fact is that it functions as a contract, so to store the asset side of the ledger, there has to be a debt to back it.
As society functions as a super organism, government amounts to the nervous system while money and banking are blood and the circulation system. With public government and private banking, the only real job the flunkies allowed in office have, is running up the public debt the banks need to grow metastatically. "The real money is in bonds."
The secret sauce of capitalism is public debt backing private wealth.
Hopefully this is a few points of reference, as to why our world is a mess.
