To culture, good and bad are a cosmic conflict between righteousness and evil, while in nature it's the basic biological binary of beneficial and detrimental, the 1/0 of sentience.

This is because culture is about getting everyone pointing in the same direction and functioning as a larger organism.

While we have been pumping up society to go to war since the dawn of time and before, this Ukraine situation seems anomalous, in that while the West is being frenetically pumped up, there is no actual intent to actually go to war. The belief is this is just to drag Russia down and use Ukraine as bear bait, but it will be a monumental embarrassment, one that will make Afghanistan look like a hiccup, when the Russians take half the country and leave the rest to stew in oligarchy, but we don't actually do much, as Europe has more refugees, less energy and the US political system fractures further over the coming election. Where will all that emotion go? I suspect it will blow back and cause serious civil conflicts in the west.

But then, it is brought to us by the same geniuses who got us into Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc.
