As factory production lines consume material and expel product, going from prior, past to succeeding, future product. As the product goes start to finish, from being in the future, to being past.

As we consume food, in order get the energy to move through life, the information of which, from original plants and animals, through the process of production, refinement and mixing, reaches the grocery store and then our table and on through us, goes from future to past, driving us on toward the future.
