To second Ricardo, what if the model is wrong?
For one thing, it can't be falsified, as whenever there has been such a gap between prediction and observation, some enormous new force of nature is assumed, not that the underlaying theory is questioned.
For example, before Inflation, Dark Matter and Dark Energy, the original patch was applied when it was realized that with everything redshifted proportional to distance, it made us appear to be at the center of this expansion, so it was changed from an expansion in space, to an expansion of space, because "spacetime!"
Which would seem to totally ignore the basic premise of GR, that the speed of light remains Constant to the frame. Obviously if it is redshifted, the speed of intergalactic light is not Constant to intergalactic space. Presumably more lightyears, not expanding lightyears.
So two metrics are being derived from the same light. One based on speed and the other based on spectrum. Which is the real denominator?
We are at the center of our point of view and it has been observed that multispectrum light "packets" do redshift over distance, as the higher spectrums dissipate faster, yet that would mean we are sampling a wave front, not individual photons, traveling billions of lightyears. Which raises issues about the elementary status of the photon. Is there something under quanta?
Is the information we extract from energy synonymous with the energy, or is there a distinction?
Consider the issue of time; As mobile organisms with a sequential process of perception and a narrative based culture, we assume time to be the present moving past to future, codified as measures of duration. The reality is that change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns. Duration is the present, as events unflold.
There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.
Energy is "conserved," because it is always and only present. Its changing form creates the effect of time. As well as temperature, pressure, color, sound, etc. Frequencies and amplitudes.
So, as process, the energy goes past to future, while the patterns generated go future to past. That is the distinction between energy and the information.
What drives a wave is the energy, while the form and information are the fluctuations, frequencies and amplitudes. Which rise and fall, come and go, future to past, as the energy goes onto the next expression of form.
Galaxies are this dichotomy of energy radiating out, as form coalesces in, aka, mass. Yet there appears to be much missing mass, relative to the observed gravity.
What if this relationship between energy and form extends across the entire spectrum? That anything we can measure is a form of information about the underlying energy, not the energy itself. Then this dichotomy of energy/form extends out to the very edge, of photons as a unit of energy/form, rather than content, and that missing mass/excess gravitational effect, is this process of contraction further out the spectrum, from mass?
To cut this short, it would mean that what we observe as the background radiation would be the light of ever further sources, shifted off the visible spectrum. The solution to Olber's paradox.
My prediction will be that if the James Webb ever does get into space and starts examining this CMBR, the problems with the current model are only going to get that much larger.
Just some ideas, but it is becoming increasingly obvious the field is wandering off into unicorns and dragons territory, with all the multiworlds and multiverses.
