Very much so, but that does to the nature of good/bad and whether it is the social right/wrong, or the biological beneficial/detrimental.

How much are our immune systems strengthened by all the pathogens they encounter. Yes, frequently we, as individuals, do die.

Yet that then goes to the issue of the fact we are a larger biological organism, not just a social organism.

That the last 3000 years of transitioning from mostly tribal societies and the resulting cultures, to these nation states of millions and now billions of people has been an eye blink in evolutionary terms and that our social and cultural conventions are seriously stuck back in the past, which hasn't been unpacked. Considering the simple fact that democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures.
