We are always going to be somwhere on that spectrum between anarchy and tyranny. At this point, anarchy looks the more probable. Tyrannies usually start with the military and ours seems as dysfunctional as the government.
The only solution to anything is to throw more money at it, but money should be a social contract enabling society, not a commodity for everyone to chase after.
Germany, in the thirties, was a generation and a World War away from a world where the aristocracy ruled and wars were fought on horseback. As the center of Europe, it collapsed into a tribal vortex.
While the US is a mashup of cultures, the guiding principle of which has been economic growth. It seems more likely it will simply crumble to pieces, when the debt can no longer be ignored.
