We are these linear, goal oriented organisms in a cyclical, circular, feedback generated reality, so we seem to have a limited arsonal against getting caught up in addictive feedback loops.

Certainly what drives social media to predate on people is the assumption of money as a commodity to mine from society, rather than the social contract enabling it. Markets need money to circulate, while people see it as signal to extract and store.

Consequently ever more has to be added and ever more metastatic methods of storing what has been extracted have to be devised. Social media turbocharges that particlar vortex, but it didn't create it.

Non fungible tokens have to be the ultimate reductio ad absurdum of this dynamic. Although derivatives are the real elephant in the room.

One idea I've been mulling, as a way to make sense of the process is to consider that the most elemental state of nature is waves and waves have two tendencies. Either they synchronize, which is centripetal, or they harmonize, which is centrifugal. So we have nodes and networks, organisms and ecosystems, particles and fields, galaxies and the universe. Even trying to formulate the universe as one results in networks of other universes, aka, multiverses.

The problem is that if we take either to extremes, it's black holes, or black body radiation. Everything cencels out, or everything fades out.

So we have to fluctuate somewhere in the middle.

So when the hive mind is starting to spin out of control, it's time to step back far enough that the larger intergalactic pull keeps you in balance.

You can feel it with your gut. That compass in the kaleidoscope.
