We evolved in a thermodynamic reality.

Consider what a convection cycle is. Energy/heat expands and carries stuff, primarily water on our planet, out, until it starts to coalesce and fall back in.

The feedback between the two creates all sorts of patterns.

Consider galaxies. Energy radiates out, as mass falls in, condensing, collapsing and releasing energy to radiate back out, creating all sorts of patterns.

As these biological creatures, we are constantly consuming all sorts of stuff to burn the energy carrying us forward. While our minds condense perceptions and thoughts out of this energy, as these little nuggets of insight. As these tactile creatures, we can control objects, like rocks, sticks, spears, other animals, iphones, etc.

The problem for our minds is that we can't rationally perceive the energy, because it would be fuzzy and often too fast. So it's the bits and distinctions we sense, consequently we try describing reality in terms of the units being presented, rather than the processes and energy doing the presenting. Then reducing it to even smaller bits, as the source of the bigger ones. From quanta to money. Loosing sight of the processes and dynamics expressing them. So like mass coalescing inward, we search for the point where it all adds up to one, ignoring the energy radiating back out from all our efforts.

We are thermodynamics. It's just that the mind is only one side of the cycle.
